git-core install violates layout of filesystem on Intel

I installed git-core today. So I hope that gives you the information you need. I'm on an Intel Mac (MacBook), running 10.4.10, all updates current, and MacPorts 1.520. I haven't been running MacPorts for long, and I also use Fink, and install manually occasionally.
